RSJ defeat San Pablo FC in season opener!

Real San Jose Soccer Club

Real San Jose opened the 2021-22 NSL Pacific Conference season with a well-deserved 2-1 victory over 2021 Regular Season Champion San Pablo FC at PAL Stadium. Hector Herrera was the offense star by assisting on the RSJ tying goal, scored by Patrik Sofalvi, and then scoring the game-winner erasing one-goal halftime deficient. Defensively, RSJ was led by newcomers goalkeeper Vadim Butenko and defender Juan Velazquez.

"It was a great way to start the season. We were a different team in the second half as the guys were determined to get the win," said RSJ coach Dave Gold.

The season-opening was a little payback for San Pablo, beating RSJ twice last season. The second win knocked RSJ out of the playoffs.

RSJ travels to Fremont to face NorCal Rush, 2-0 losers to Richmond Sol on Sunday, returning home on October 9 to host Cruizers FC from Modesto.
