Real San Jose continued their winning ways in 2018 with a 3-0 victory over the Redding Royals at PAL Stadium on April 28. This was the third home win for RSJ this season.
Mike Tomsic got Real San Jose on the scoreboard just after the 20 minute mark when his low skipping shot found its way through the Redding goalkeeper and into the net. Then, just a couple minutes later, Borja Moya added a second goal. This time it came off a twenty-yard curving free kick that found its mark.
The match started with both sides searching for the early goal. It was Redding that produced the most dangerous of the chances as RSJ goalkeeper Jonathan Arellano was forced to make a few good saves. The game took a major shift in RSJ's direction once Tomsic shot slithered into the net.
The second half turned out to be action-packed with Redding pushing forward and RSJ running into gaps in the Royals defense. Defensively, center defenders Omar Sanchez and newcomer Mo Elshafie kept everything under control. RSJ finally put the match away with less than 10 minutes remaining when Isau Navarro drove a 25 yard shot into the Redding net. The quality of the goal seemed to signify the overall performance from San Jose as they were full value for the 3-0 win.
Real San Jose hits the road next week as they take their unbeaten record to Chico. The next home match is May 12 when Western Nevada comes to PAL stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:45 PM.
