“I am humbled by the award. I feel very blessed to be surrounded by so many good people,” said Elliott. “The CFC Board, Sean McDaniel, Jimmy Weekley and our entire staff take great pride in their work, which allows me to focus on my job. This talented group of players were both appreciative and respectful throughout the season as they worked their tails off to get results.
“The Chattahooligans always bring an infectious passion that creates a fun environment in the stadium for all to enjoy. My family has been tremendous in supporting me and encouraging me to follow my dreams. All of these groups of people deserve an award.
“With that said, I am extremely proud to accept the award on behalf of the entire CFC organization, the city of Chattanooga and everyone associated with us.”
The Alexander Arellano Memorial Trophy, voted on by the teams themselves, is awarded to the top head coach in the NPSL. Alex Arellano was a young man who touched the lives of many in the NPSL, so much that the league crafted an award in his memory. Alex, the middle son of Real San Jose owner Nick Arellano, passed away in 2012 at the age of 25.
In just his third year with the club, Elliott has led the team to three consecutive Southeast Conference titles (2012-2014), a South Region Final (2013), a South Region Championship (2014) and two National Finals (2012, 2014). His record over three seasons is 30 wins, 7 ties and 6 losses, and under his leadership the team has been undefeated in NPSL league play for 37 out of 43 games (86%). This season he also saw the club to its first US Open Cup tournament win, which also happened the first time an NPSL team had defeated a pro team in the tournament in sixteen attempts.
“We’ve always known Bill was going to have success with Chattanooga FC,” said General Manager Sean McDaniel. “His ability to relate to the players and fans are wonderful traits and clearly give him the ability to reach the top of his profession. He absolutely deserves this award.”
