RSJ Stay Unbeaten After Two Road Matches

Real San Jose Soccer Club

Real San Jose completed their season-opening road matches with a scrappy draw in Oakland on March 26. RSJ is off to a good start earning four of the possible six points facing the 2015 NPSL regional finalists.

“The boys played very well in playing two very good teams on the road, and now we are very excited to play our first game in PAL Stadium on April 2,” said RSJ captain David Sifuentes.

RSJ went into halftime trailing 1-0 behind a well-crafted attack that resulted in last season’s Golden Boot winner Simon Crowley tapping in from close range. That goal came in the 32nd minute.

The game took a dramatic turn just five minutes into the second half. Heriberto Guerro intercepted a CDA pass along the back and went one v one with the goalkeeper. Just as Guerro was rounding the keeper, he was brought down. The referee wasted no time in pointing to the spot and showing the red card to offending keeper. Jose Avalos calmly converted the spot kick to pull the game even.

From that point, the ten-man CDA did a solid job keeping the match even.

The two road results mean that Real San Jose opens their 2016 home schedule in first place in the Golden Gate Conference. On April 2 RSJ hosts the East Bay FC Stompers. Tailgating begins at 5:30 pm with kick slated for 7:00 pm at PAL Stadium in San Jose.
