Avalos nets two as RSJ defeats Pleasanton 2-0

Jose Avalos
It wasn’t pretty but Real San Jose managed to get a 2-0 victory over IFX Ballistic at Patelco Sports Center on a chilly night on May 24. Jose Avalos scored twice it what was a rather chippy contest. RSJ has now won four of their last five games.

RSJ had most of the offensive play on the evening and was frustrated by the lack of goals to show for it until the 67th-minute mark when Angel Heredia played Avalos free down the middle. Avalos efficiently slotted the ball into the net to give RSJ a much-deserved lead.

The match continued to bet contested until extra time when Alberto Garcia-Escamilla provided Avalos with the opportunity to this time blast the ball into the net to effectively and symbolically end Pleasanton’s night.

Notes:

Jonathan Arellano: It was great to win and get the shutout. Especially when it felt like everything was against us last night. We fought hard and showed grit to get the three points. It speaks volumes to the amount of work we put in since the season began. IFX Ballistic made it clear we had to earn the three points and they were no pushover. They probably kicked us more than the ball. It was a frustrating match to be in but I am proud of our guys because we fought through adversity and won.

Next match: Real San Jose continues a push for the playoffs this Saturday vs CD Aguiluchos. 7:00 pm Kickoff at PAL Stadium.
