San Francisco — There are days in soccer when everything clicks… and then there are days when you run into El Farolito.

Real San Jose made the trip north to face the reigning National Amateur Club of the Year and, for one long evening in Boxer Stadium, found themselves on the wrong end of a 12–0 scoreline. Yes, twelve. As in, by the time you finish reading this sentence, they might have scored again.

But here’s the thing — this wasn’t a team that packed it in.

From the opening whistle, RSJ showed up ready to fight. For stretches, they battled, defended, and tried to impose themselves against a side that has made a habit of turning good teams into cautionary tales. And while the scoreboard kept ticking in a direction nobody in red, white, and black wanted to see, the effort never dipped.

No heads dropped. No walking. No “let’s just get out of here.” Just a group that kept lining up, taking the next kickoff, and going again.

Because that’s the part you don’t always see in a scoreline like this.

You see “12–0” and think collapse. But inside it, there’s something else — guys who kept running, kept competing, and kept showing up for each other even when the result was long gone.

Against a powerhouse like El Farolito, that matters.

Real San Jose will take the lesson, take the hit, and keep moving. That’s how this club has lasted 20 seasons. Not by avoiding results like this — but by surviving them.

And if you’ve been around RSJ long enough, you already know how this story goes next.

They’ll be back. Starting this friday when the Oakland Stompers come to PAL Stadium for a 7:45PM kickoff.

Real San Jose extended their impressive unbeaten streak to 22 games in the NSL Pacific Conference, securing a commanding 2-0 victory over Richmond Sol.

The clash at MLK Park in Richmond was fast-paced as RSJ created several missed chances in the early exchanges.

The breakthrough came in the 34th minute when Victor Salguero, Real San Jose's dynamic forward, made his mark on the game. It was Juan Vazquez's visionary pass that cut through the Richmond Sol defense like a hot knife through butter, setting Salguero up to break the deadlock. As the second half unfolded, Real San Jose ramped up the pressure. Their persistence paid dividends when Lluis Dolade found himself at the right place at the right time, doubling the lead from close range, cementing RSJ's advantage, and effectively putting the game out of reach for the Sol.

The man between the sticks for Real San Jose, Mark Canepa, was a colossal presence in goal, making a critical save midway through the first half. His acrobatic leap to deny Richmond's 25-yard stinger kept Richmond from stealing the opening goal against the run of play. The defensive trio of Andy Canepa, Juan Tribin, and Teddy Rexing formed an impregnable fortress, thwarting the Richmond Sol attackers and nullifying their offensive threat throughout the match. Their poise under pressure was a testament to RSJ's tactical discipline.

In the heart of the field, the midfield workhorses Yasid Alvarado, Jacob Muniz, and Marlon Marquez covered every bit of turf, showcasing both grit and finesse. They orchestrated the tempo, winning critical challenges and seamlessly transitioning play from defense to attack.

Real San Jose's performance was a statement of intent, a declaration of their unwavering ambition to dominate the NSL Pacific Conference. As the final whistle blew, talk of a second straight unbeaten regular season added a layer of excitement to an already thrilling evening of soccer. Oddly enough, this is only the second victory of the season, as the other four matches ended in draws. RSJ needs a victory over Yemen United to secure 2nd in the NSL standing and a first-round bye in the playoffs. That is at MLK Park on February 17th.

"Another nail-biting showdown in the NSL Pacific Conference! Real San Jose and San Leandro battled it out to a 0-0 tie, keeping us on the edge of our seats. The RSJ stars of the game? Yasid Alvarado, Juan Turbin, Marlon Marquez, and Alex Ollman stepped up their game for RSJ.

With a remarkable 21-game unbeaten streak in league play, RSJ is unstoppable! But let's keep pushing for that well-deserved victory. Shoutout to Alex, a midfielder, who played goalkeeper the entire second half as Mark Canepa was forced out by a questionable foul from an opponent.

Next up, we're ready to clinch that playoff spot against Yemen United! Can't wait for the battle in Richmond next week. Stay tuned! #RSJ #nsl #realsanjose #nslpacific"
