San Francisco — There are days in soccer when everything clicks… and then there are days when you run into El Farolito.

Real San Jose made the trip north to face the reigning National Amateur Club of the Year and, for one long evening in Boxer Stadium, found themselves on the wrong end of a 12–0 scoreline. Yes, twelve. As in, by the time you finish reading this sentence, they might have scored again.

But here’s the thing — this wasn’t a team that packed it in.

From the opening whistle, RSJ showed up ready to fight. For stretches, they battled, defended, and tried to impose themselves against a side that has made a habit of turning good teams into cautionary tales. And while the scoreboard kept ticking in a direction nobody in red, white, and black wanted to see, the effort never dipped.

No heads dropped. No walking. No “let’s just get out of here.” Just a group that kept lining up, taking the next kickoff, and going again.

Because that’s the part you don’t always see in a scoreline like this.

You see “12–0” and think collapse. But inside it, there’s something else — guys who kept running, kept competing, and kept showing up for each other even when the result was long gone.

Against a powerhouse like El Farolito, that matters.

Real San Jose will take the lesson, take the hit, and keep moving. That’s how this club has lasted 20 seasons. Not by avoiding results like this — but by surviving them.

And if you’ve been around RSJ long enough, you already know how this story goes next.

They’ll be back. Starting this friday when the Oakland Stompers come to PAL Stadium for a 7:45PM kickoff.

Real San Jose let a chance to gain three points in the UPSL Wild West Red Division standings on October 26 and only change away with one in a scoreless draw with Stockton TLJ FC at PAL Stadium. It was a night of missed chances. In the first half, Heriberto Guerro taps his penalty kick and the Stockton keeper easily held on. In the second half, Stockton was reduced to 10 men and RSJ still failed to score. To say it was a frustrating night is an understatement. Perhaps RSJ needed Denis Sorto who was unavailable for the game. Despite that, a pair of newcomers, goalkeeper Christian Fuentes and defender Miles Monroe had very good games.

Real San Jose hit the road to face the Vacaville Elite and returned home with three points in the standings. RSJ outscored Vacaville 3-2 in an exciting game as the teams traded goals throughout. Heriberto Guerro put RSJ on top from the penalty spot in the 11th minute. Vacaville responded to even the match and then Denis Sorto put RSJ up 2-1 going into halftime. Just after the break, Vacaville tied the match from a corner kick. Then Martinez, in the 80th minute, scored to make the score 3-2. The RSJ defense took control to bring the three points home. Big performances were put in by Noe Olivo and Manny Meza who started in midfield for the unavailable Olasunknami Abass and Juan Torres.

Real San Jose came back from a goal down twice to earn a draw with defending Wild West Division Champions Contra Costa FC on October 5th. Justin Fathali headed in from close range during a stoppage-time goalmouth scramble off a corner kick. The first was played to a 0-0 stalemate then came a trio of goals to start the second half. CCFC quickly broke from a failed RSJ corner kick to grab the lead in the 51st minute. Then just a minute later Diego Madrigal pulled RSJ even. Shortly after a defensive miscue in the RSJ defense led to CCFC going in front again in the 55th minute. Then came RSJ's dramatic stoppage-time goal to end what was an intense and exciting match.
