San Francisco — There are days in soccer when everything clicks… and then there are days when you run into El Farolito.

Real San Jose made the trip north to face the reigning National Amateur Club of the Year and, for one long evening in Boxer Stadium, found themselves on the wrong end of a 12–0 scoreline. Yes, twelve. As in, by the time you finish reading this sentence, they might have scored again.

But here’s the thing — this wasn’t a team that packed it in.

From the opening whistle, RSJ showed up ready to fight. For stretches, they battled, defended, and tried to impose themselves against a side that has made a habit of turning good teams into cautionary tales. And while the scoreboard kept ticking in a direction nobody in red, white, and black wanted to see, the effort never dipped.

No heads dropped. No walking. No “let’s just get out of here.” Just a group that kept lining up, taking the next kickoff, and going again.

Because that’s the part you don’t always see in a scoreline like this.

You see “12–0” and think collapse. But inside it, there’s something else — guys who kept running, kept competing, and kept showing up for each other even when the result was long gone.

Against a powerhouse like El Farolito, that matters.

Real San Jose will take the lesson, take the hit, and keep moving. That’s how this club has lasted 20 seasons. Not by avoiding results like this — but by surviving them.

And if you’ve been around RSJ long enough, you already know how this story goes next.

They’ll be back. Starting this friday when the Oakland Stompers come to PAL Stadium for a 7:45PM kickoff.

Real San Jose defeated Dahlak FC by the score of 3 to 0 on April 24, 2021, at Raimondi Park in Oakland.

Cedric Fossito opened the scoring in the 4th minute with a short-range shot off a pass from RSJ captain Sergio Cermeno.

RSJ had missed numerous clear chances to increase the lead until, finally, in the 69th minute Memo Plancarte chested down a long free-kick from Hoang Pham then blasted a 15 yard shot into the Dalak FC goal. Plancarte later assisted Dylan Tsague's 85th-minute goal.

Real San Jose fell behind twice in the first half and came-back twice and then made an early second half goal stand to open the 2020 Spring Season with a 3-2 victory over Pajaro Valley United on March 7 at PAL Stadium in San Jose.

With RSJ trailing midway through the first Memo Plancarte sent in a cross from the right and after a pair of defensive headers, the last of which fell to Miguel Leon who vollied the ball into the PVU net. The tied match did not stay that way long as PVU struck again. Then Sergio Cermeno scored for RSJ from the penalty spot just before halftime.

RSJ came out strong to start the second half and once again it was Leon who this time crossed to Plancarte to volley home. RSJ made that goal stand to earn a exciting 3-2 victory.

Real San Jose fell 1-0 to JASA on November 23, 2019, at Red Morton Park in Redwood City, thus ending the UPSL Fall Season in last place in the West West Red Division. The only goal of the match came off a corner kick in the 75th minute.

Noe Olivo and Miles Monroe all had strong performances in the RSJ defense. Cesar Prado and goalkeeper Julian Escobar each made their RSJ debuts. Omololu Ajao made a brief debut going out injured in the opening minutes. Unfortunately, a strong defensive performance was all RSJ could provide once again as the offensive was shutout again.
